Islamabad
Pakistan Railways would install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at all major railway stations of Rawalpindi Division to counter terrorist activities, a Railways official said on Tuesday.
Talking to APP, the official said the department has already installed CCTV cameras at all major railway stations of Karachi and Lahore divisions.
Initially, the department would install CCTV cameras at Rawalpindi Railway Station and would later install them at other railway stations of the division.
The official said the process of installation of cameras would take a time period of one month, adding that the cameras would be connected with a computer room at Rawalpindi Railway Station that would help the authorities to crack down on those violating the ban on smoking on platforms and inside trains.
The official said that demarcation for the installation of cameras is under process and would be completed soon. The CCTV cameras will help railway security personnel to monitor the movement of suspicious people, especially terrorists, he added.
He said the Railway Police in collaboration with city police has tightened security at all railway stations of Rawalpindi division.
